Play in Salmon Idaho

Make time to play in Salmon Idaho

Here are a few ways that we play in Salmon Idaho. Think about adding one of these fun activities before or after your river trip.

Explore the Sacajawea Center

Salmon is the home of the Sacajawea Center, where you can learn more about Sacajawea, the other members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and their experiences in the Lemhi Valley. In addition to the Interpretive Center, the grounds have hiking trails, tipi replicas and beautiful vistas of the Continental Divide.

Relax in a Hot Spring

You have a couple of choices for hot springs when visiting Salmon. Sharkey Hot Springs is a 19 mile drive to a BLM improved site with two pools, picnic tables and outhouses. Goldbug hot springs is undeveloped and located about 20 miles south of Salmon. The hike is fairly steep and about two miles to the soaking pools.

Mountain Bike in the Foothills

The Hub Bike Shop rents full-suspension mountain bikes hard-tail 29er mountain bikes, cyclecross bikes, kids bikes, and a tandem trailer bike. It is a short ride from the bike shop to the Discovery Hill area where there is a network of single track trails. You can stop at the Pork Peddler for barbecue and a snack when you return.

Visit Lemhi County Museum

Step back in time at the Lemhi County Museum. You will find artifacts from the Agaidika (Lemhi) Shoshone, early local Chinese community, the ranching community and early miners. The museum has thousands of historic photographs. Those that are on display capture the essence of the history in the Lemhi valley.
